    Independent Reading
It is important that every student chooses an independent reading book.  Students should independently read for at least 30 minutes each day. Independent reading not only builds background information, but also builds fluency, increases vocabulary, and helps to increase comprehension.

Throughout the course of the year, you will be asked to read independently and complete a number of different activities and projects. Not only will these activities and projects be graded, but you will also be asked to participate in book talks and book shares with your classmates.

Please remember to keep up with your reading
so that you are not scrambling at the last minute.
*The more you read, the better reader and writer you become!*
