Mrs. Helen Cole is artist and art educator. She has taught art at Keansburg High School for 28 years. She completed her undergraduate studies at Goddard College in Vermont and Monmouth University in New Jersey. During those years, Mrs.Cole also traveled to Mexico and worked with silversmiths and weavers in a international study program and participated in summer workshops at the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina. After student teaching and graduating from Monmouth University with a BA in Art Education and Visual Arts Mrs. Cole began her graduate studies at Syracuse University. She earned an MFA in Visual Arts from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University while working an a teaching assistant at Rutgers University. Mrs. Cole has been a recipient of grants from the New Jersey Council on the Arts twice and has been awarded a Fellowship from the Geraldine Dodge Foundation as an artist/ art educator.
Currently, Mrs. Cole teaches classes in Art I and World Crafts in the art department and serves as the production advisor for the Keansburg High School Yearbook. Outside of school she finds time to expand her creative energies while making pottery and teaching workshops at the Monmouth County Parks studio in Lincroft.
