Keansburg School District Induction Program

The purpose of this plan is to induct new teachers into the teaching profession at the Keansburg School District.  This program will allow new teachers the opportunity to have the proper preparation into their school and provide them with a variety of tools for their first years- in addition to other complimentary programs. This mentoring plan will lead new teachers toward reflective professional growth and allow them to become an effective teacher.  More importantly it will encourage and support community amongst the current staff and new staff as they begin to work together to enhance the long term goal of student learning.

The Keansburg School District is committed to supporting novice teachers as they enter the teaching profession.  According to the New Jersey Teacher Mentoring Regulations (N.J.A.C.6A9B-8) it is required that the school district develop a mentoring plan aimed to:

  • Assist first-year teachers in the performance of their duties and adjustment to the challenges of their teaching assignment;
  • Reduce novice teacher attrition;
  • Improve the effectiveness of new teachers; and
  • Enhance teacher knowledge of, and strategies related to, the New Jersey Student Learning Standards to facilitate student achievement and growth.
